Through the lens of Jon Tonks, witness the stories of fishermen preserving livelihoods, culture, and marine life; all nourished by our shared waters. These tales of changing tides and traditions form our tenth We Feed The UK story.
Beneath the rolling waves of the southwest coast, an ancient bond between people and sea is unravelling. We have lived in balance with our oceans for millennia, but their bounties are ebbing. Jon Tonks has been documenting his encounters with the fishing world, and those trying to act more sustainably along the southwest coast of England.
We are deeply honoured to share Jon’s powerful images in a long exhibition at the Martin Parr Foundation. We are showing the photographs alongside words from Hot Poet Chris Redmond, whose poem Enough Fish Enough reminds us to honour the sea’s rhythms and the life it nurtures, above and below the waterline.
The exhibition launches with a party on 3 April 2025. Join us as we celebrate this vibrant exhibition and its inspiring subjects.
The exhibition is free to attend and the gallery is open Thursday to Sunday 10:00 – 17:00. No need to book.
After your visit, you can visit The Royal Photographic Society, just next door, to view the entire photographic collection across all ten We Feed The UK stories, exhibiting for the same duration.
