Agri-culture: The Exhibition II

Lakeland Arts, Abbot Hall, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 5AL

28 September – 28 December 2024

Following their joyous launch at The Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, Johannes Pretorius‘ photographs of our Cumbria We Feed The UK story are travelling to Lakeland Arts Abbot Hall in Cumbria, alongside some new additions.

On Strickley Organic Farm, James, his father and his son are weaving a wild tapestry of green rebellion. Threaded together by seven miles of ancient hedgerow, grassland, woodland, and becks form an agri-culture for an entire community of life.

Johannes captured the family’s unique hedge-laying language in a series of beautiful images which perfectly tell the story of regenerative farming taking place on these lands.

On an inspiring visit to Strickley Farm, students from Queen Katherine School captured their response to their time between the hedgerows. Johannes has selected several of these works to be included in this second exhibition.

We are so pleased to have the opportunity to re-show this stunning exhibition. The gallery is open 10:00-16:00 Wednesday-Saturday for the duration of the exhibition. Entry to the gallery is £12.
